About Delia Warren
Delia Warren (P. Eng.) is director of Iron & Earth East, and is a member of the national board of directors of Iron & Earth. As a nature lover, even from an early age Delia was concerned about the adverse impacts of human activity on the environment. Graduating from Memorial University with a degree in mechanical engineering, and with limited employment options in the renewable energy industry, Delia spent the first seven years of her career working in offshore oil and gas in Scotland, France, Africa and at home in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Throughout this time, Delia recognized that the skills she developed in subsea, offshore and structural engineering would be broadly applicable in offshore wind energy projects, and other types of renewable energy design. Following the oil downturn in 2014 and the resulting lay-offs, Delia began volunteering for Iron & Earth East, eventually taking on the role of director in October 2016. Delia recognizes that integrating renewables into our energy strategy will provide an incredible opportunity for economic development, economic diversification and job creation in a society where the future of oil is uncertain, and many oil workers are underemployed. She is currently overseeing several projects with Iron & Earth East, and is completing an MBA at Memorial University.
